Student answer (Band 6.0)

Tourist industry is expanding day by day. Now the travellers started visiting the areas where the weather conditions are not in the favour like, Sahara desert and Antarctic region. This trend carries some advantages such as toursits can expand their knowledge regarding the difficulties that people face who live there and tourist's visit can generate source of income for the regional masses. Other than this, some cons of the trend can be the expensive tickets and some health issues that tourists can face after visiting such areas.

To begin with the benefits, visiting places where the weather is either too cold or hot can help the tourists to come to know about different ways of survival. The visitors can learn about some strategies that work for the people who deal with such weather conditions. For example, it would be surprising to know for the tourists that people have to walk for miles to collect the water for daily usuage in Sahara desert. Moreover, if more number of outsiders visit these araes, it can create the work opportunities for the local residents. Because the visitors need accomodation to stay, they need the food to eat and visitors can buy the local items. This all can help residents to generate money.

On the other hand, there are some disadvantages as the ticket prices can be very high. A fewer number of visitors decide to visit serene araes so, the ones who are vsiting they need to pay for the expensive ticket prices. For example, the air fare and even local transportaion in such localities can cost a lot of money to the toursists. Adding to this, some of the tourists can get sick after facing climate change. The people whose body can not tolerate too much heat or cold can get ill after their visit.

To summarise, no doubt visiting such places has a significat benefit for the toursists as well as for the regional people, but this trend carries some disadvantages that impacts tourist's health and pocket.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the question and give a clear overall view: visiting difficult environments can benefit tourists and local residents, while also affecting visitors’ finances and health. The examples about learning how people obtain water in the Sahara and local businesses earning from accommodation, food and souvenirs make the benefits relevant. The disadvantages are also identified, with airfares and illness as supporting points. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others. The health point, for instance, says tourists may become ill because of heat or cold but does not explain how they could reduce this risk or give a specific example. The discussion would be stronger if each main point were explained in more detail and linked directly to tourists’ experiences.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and disadvantages, and a concluding summary. The progression from one side of the question to the other is easy to follow, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “To summarise” help guide the reader. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and also shows some features of stronger control. However, several links feel mechanical, and some sentences are joined in ways that make the relationship between ideas less clear. For example, “Because the visitors need accomodation to stay, they need the food to eat and visitors can buy the local items” would be clearer if divided or connected with more precise linking. Use referencing and transitions more naturally.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “survival,” “work opportunities,” “air fare,” and “climate change.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “regional residents” and “serene areas.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, which limits precision. Phrases such as “weather conditions are not in the favour,” “generate source of income,” and “expensive ticket prices” are not natural in this context. Spelling errors, including “toursits,” “usuage,” “araes,” and “accomodation,” are noticeable and weaken the overall control of vocabulary. Aim to learn common word partnerships and proofread spelling, while keeping the useful topic vocabulary you already attempt.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “Because” and “whose,” and most of the meaning remains understandable. Some sentence patterns are effective, such as “The people whose body can not tolerate too much heat or cold can get ill after their visit.” However, there are some errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and punctuation. For example, “This all can help residents to generate money” has an awkward subject construction, while “some disadvantages … impacts” has a subject–verb agreement problem. The opening sentence also uses an unclear construction in “Now the travellers started visiting.” Work on consistent verb forms, singular and plural agreement, and sentence boundaries. More accurate control of these patterns would make your varied structures easier to read.
