Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter to give my opinion on where you should spend your money.

To begin with, if you spend your money on local children's sports team, you will be able to support someone's dream. It also comes with a side benefit of being able to promote your-self. Financially supporting a sports team can help them by providing neccesary care and equipments. Moreover, It can help them competing with different teams where they have to travel across the city.

On the other hand, paying for the concerts held in our city can help people come togather and spend some quality time in their busy life.In addition , concerts can provide business to the local shops when crowd shows up for the concert from different regions.

To conclude, both the ideas are extraordinary yet i think sponsoring a young generation's physical activity can be benefitial for our bright future.

Yours faiuhfully,

Meghraj.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three points and make your preference clear: the final sentence recommends supporting young people’s physical activity. The sports-team paragraph gives relevant benefits, including helping children pursue their ambitions, funding equipment and enabling travel to competitions. You also identify two advantages of concerts: bringing people together and attracting customers to local shops. This covers the task well, but the ideas are not equally developed. For example, the concert benefits are stated briefly without explaining their wider value, and the company’s promotional benefit is mentioned but not connected clearly to either option. To strengthen the response further, explain the impact of each benefit and give a more explicit reason why the sports sponsorship is the better investment.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The letter has a clear overall progression: an opening purpose, a paragraph for each option, and a concluding recommendation. Signposts such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” help the reader follow the comparison, and the ideas within each paragraph are generally relevant to its topic. The recommendation also follows logically from the discussion. To make the organisation more polished, use transitions that show the relationship between specific points rather than relying mainly on standard paragraph openers. Some sentences run together, as in “dream. It also” and “life. In addition,” which interrupts the flow. Check spacing after full stops and use paragraph breaks consistently so the letter is easier to read.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “sponsoring,” “financially supporting,” “quality time,” and “local shops.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “promote yourself” and “physical activity.” However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision and make the language less natural: “neccesary,” “equipments,” “togather,” “benefitial,” and “faiuhfully.” Some phrases are also awkward, such as “support someone’s dream” and “provide business to the local shops.” Aim for accurate spelling and natural collocations, and choose wording that clearly identifies who benefits. This would make your ideas sound more fluent and appropriately formal.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and more complex forms, including conditional structures (“if you spend your money… you will be able to support”) and a relative clause (“where they have to travel across the city”). These help you express consequences and add detail. Some grammatical errors remain, although the main message is generally understandable. For example, “on local children’s sports team” needs an article, and “help them competing” should use the infinitive form after “help.” “It can help them competing with different teams” also has an unclear pronoun reference. Review articles, verb patterns after “help,” and punctuation between sentences. More accurate control of these patterns, alongside your existing sentence variety, would improve clarity.
