Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to share my opinion to your proposal to either sponser a local's children's sports team for two years or to pay for two open air concerts. I apperciate that your company is seeking feedback from the community before making this decision.
Sponsoring a children's sports team would bring many long term benefits. It would encourage young people to stay active, develop healthy habits and improve important skills such as teamwork, discipline, and confidence.
In addition, children from families with limited financial resources would have more opportunities to take part in sports. This investment could have a positive imoact on the community for many years.
On the other hand concerts could also attracts visitors from nearby areas. However, concerts offer enjoyment for a short peiod supporting young athletes would create lasting benefits for both the children and the wider community.
Thank you for considering my views. I hope you will choose to invest in the local children's sports team.
Yours faithfully,
Jashandeep Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points and make your recommendation clear: you favour sponsoring the children’s team. The benefits of sponsorship are the strongest part, with relevant points about activity, healthy habits, teamwork and access for children from families with limited resources. The concert benefit is mentioned—attracting visitors from nearby areas—but is only briefly summarised, with little explanation of how this would benefit the community or company. Your final preference is clear, though the comparison could be more persuasive if you explained why the long-term benefits outweigh the concerts’ appeal. Developing that contrast would make the response more complete and better supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall structure: an opening, discussion of the two options, a recommendation and an appropriate closing. Paragraphing helps distinguish the main ideas, and transitions such as “In addition” and “On the other hand” guide the reader. However, the contrast between concerts and sponsorship is compressed into one sentence, making the reasoning feel abrupt; the sentence beginning “However, concerts offer enjoyment” would be clearer as a separate, fully developed comparison. The opening also uses a somewhat awkward transition from the proposal to the benefits. To improve progression, give each option its own focused paragraph and connect the comparison explicitly to your final recommendation.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of relevant vocabulary, including “long term benefits,” “financial resources,” “teamwork,” and “lasting benefits,” which communicates the main ideas clearly. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “develop healthy habits” and “positive impact on the community.” Some spelling errors—“sponser,” “apperciate,” “imoact” and “peiod”—reduce accuracy, while “open air” would normally be hyphenated when used before a noun. The phrase “a local’s children’s sports team” is also an awkward choice of wording. Aim to check spelling and use natural collocations; this will make your otherwise relevant vocabulary more precise and polished.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more developed sentence forms, and most of the message remains easy to understand. For example, the sentence listing the benefits of sport combines several related ideas effectively. Some grammatical errors are present, however. In “concerts could also attracts visitors,” the verb should agree with the modal and remain in its base form (“could attract”). The phrase “I am writing to share my opinion to your proposal” uses an incorrect preposition pattern; write “my opinion on your proposal.” The sentence beginning “However, concerts offer enjoyment” also joins contrasting ideas without clear punctuation or a complete structure. Review verb forms after modal verbs, preposition patterns and sentence boundaries to improve control.
