Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir,

I hope you are doing well. I would like to thank you for sponsoring money to children's well-being. It is quite difficult to choose whether money should be spent on sports team for two year or offer two free concerts to children. The both options has their own benefits. Among these two options, sponsoring the sports team would bring more benefits to their health and fitness. It allow them to play sports without membership cost for two years and they will thank us for this period everyday.

Furthermore, paying money for concert would allow them to enjoy music and give a chance to see and meet popular musicians. This is indeed encouraging for the students who love to make a career in arts field.

Overall, I personally think that spending money to sports team would be a great choice because our town is also encouraging people to follow healthier lifestyle and spending money in the same direction would show a great awareness and support to the township.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks

Kind regards,

Vaibhav

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three requested points and make your recommendation clear: you favour sponsoring the sports team, linking it to children’s health and the town’s healthier-lifestyle goals. You also identify relevant benefits of concerts, including enjoyment and exposure to musicians for students interested in the arts. These points make the letter purposeful and relevant. However, the comparison is uneven: the sports-team benefits receive more explanation, while the concert benefits are stated briefly and are focused mainly on children rather than the wider community. The opening thanks the company for “sponsoring money,” although it is asking for feedback on two possible uses. Develop the concert case and make the opening more directly responsive to the company’s request to strengthen the letter further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on the two options, a recommendation, and a closing. The progression from describing benefits to stating your preference is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Furthermore” and “Overall” help guide the reader. This gives the response a coherent arrangement. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. “Among these two options” introduces the recommendation before the concert benefits are discussed, and “Furthermore” does not fully clarify the contrast between the alternatives. The final paragraph also combines the town’s policy, the company’s choice, and the idea of awareness in one long sentence. Use clearer contrast markers and separate related points so that each paragraph develops one stage of your argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task and includes relevant terms such as “health and fitness,” “membership cost,” “popular musicians,” and “healthier lifestyle.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and the response attempts some more specific language about children’s interests and community support. At times, however, word choice and collocation are awkward or imprecise: “sponsoring money,” “spending money to sports team,” and “show a great awareness” do not sound natural in this context. “Arts field” is also less idiomatic than a more established expression. These issues do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and naturalness. Aim to learn common collocations for funding and community projects, and choose wording that clearly distinguishes sponsorship from direct payment.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “students who love to make a career” and a reason clause beginning “because.” The message remains understandable throughout. Some grammatical errors are present, particularly with agreement, articles, and number: “The both options has” should use a plural verb, and “It allow them” needs a singular verb form. There are also issues in phrases such as “for two year” and “to sports team,” where number and article use need attention. The final recommendation sentence is long and would be clearer if divided into two sentences. Review subject–verb agreement and singular/plural forms, then proofread articles and sentence boundaries while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
