Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to suggest feedback from the general public about where to spend a certain amount of money, either for children's sports team or for open-air concerts.
There would be several benefits to sponsor sports team such as it will support young talents, which ultimately positively impact the growth of society. If sports team supported by company, it will help company to attract young clients.
The open-air concerts that people need to refresh them from scheduled life. Organizing music concerts, stand-up comedy, and spiritual conerts helps people and the company to get more recogination.
I would like to suggest my view point, the company should spend money on sports team because it is more benficial for the company. If company spend money on sports, it helps the company to get positive resposne from public and the country will get exceelent sportspersons.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
Shivani

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: describing the benefits of the sports team, summarizing the benefits of the concerts, and providing a clear recommendation. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation of how the concerts benefit the company is quite brief and lacks detail. To improve, try to expand on your points with specific examples or more detailed reasoning. While your position is clear, the overall depth of the response is closer to the Band 6 level, as some ideas are under-developed and the tone is slightly informal for a formal letter.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical structure with clear paragraphing, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'If', 'because', and 'such as' to link your ideas. However, the transitions between sentences are sometimes mechanical, and there is a lack of more sophisticated linking words or referencing. For instance, the second paragraph could be improved with better signposting to connect the benefits of the sports team to the company's growth. Overall, the organization is clear, but the use of cohesive devices is somewhat repetitive and basic.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'young talents', 'positive response', and 'view point'. However, there are several spelling errors (e.g., 'recogination', 'benficial', 'resposne', 'exceelent') and some awkward phrasing, such as 'refresh them from scheduled life'. These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, but they do limit the score. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure you proofread your work to eliminate basic spelling mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences using 'if' clauses, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles (e.g., 'sponsor sports team' instead of 'sponsor a sports team') and verb forms (e.g., 'If company spend money' instead of 'If the company spends money'). These errors are noticeable throughout the text. While they rarely impede communication, they indicate a need for more consistent control over basic grammar, such as subject-verb agreement and the use of articles.
