Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Smith sir,

I hope you are doing great. I am writing this email for giving the feedback about spending money to sponsor BPL cricket team for two years or to organized open ground concert.

I think that, if your company polygon tech. institute give the money to BPL cricket team to become their sponsor is good idea. The reason is that, they are playing very good so there is a chance to win tournament which is totally worth it. This tournament is very popular so we are expecting more people to come to watch game and this is perfect time to advertise your brand product.

I also would like to highlight benefits of doing concert. Your company can bring most famous singer for concert so that youth and adult also come and enjoy open air concert, All the attendees will purchase ticket so your company can earn significant amount of money from the concert and your company do advertise of products.

So i personally think that sending money on concert is best option as you will give the joy to all age people as well as you can earn some amount from that.

Thanks,

Mariya

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all three bullet points of the prompt: describing the benefits of the sports team, summarizing the benefits of the concerts, and providing a clear recommendation. The ideas are relevant and the position is consistent throughout the letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, the explanation of why the sports team is a good choice relies on general statements about popularity rather than specific, well-supported arguments. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your reasoning with more depth and detail. Overall, the task requirements are met, and the purpose of the letter is clear to the reader.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, with each section addressing a specific part of the prompt. There is a clear introduction and a concluding recommendation. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. Transitions between sentences are occasionally abrupt, and the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast'). While the paragraphing is appropriate, the overall progression of ideas feels a bit repetitive in its structure. Improving the variety of your cohesive devices will help the text flow more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You have attempted to use some topic-specific vocabulary such as 'advertise', 'attendees', and 'tournament'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'to organized open ground concert' (should be 'organizing an open-air concert') and 'sending money' (should be 'spending money'). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited and relies on simple, repetitive phrasing. To improve, try to incorporate more precise synonyms and collocations related to business and community events.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms and articles, such as 'I am writing this email for giving the feedback' (should be 'to give feedback') and 'your company do advertise of products' (should be 'your company can advertise its products'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some missing commas and incorrect capitalization. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage will help improve your accuracy.
