Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly describe the benefits of the sports team sponsorship and the concerts, and you provide a clear recommendation. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention that sports help youth, the explanation could be more detailed to fully explore the impact on the community. The opening sentence is slightly confusing due to grammatical errors, which makes the initial purpose of the letter less clear. To improve, ensure that your ideas are fully expanded with specific examples or logical consequences to demonstrate a more thorough engagement with the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'In addition', and 'Therefore' to transition between ideas. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and punctuation errors. For instance, the transition between the benefits of the sports team and the final recommendation could be smoother. The use of referencing is generally clear, but the overall structure feels a bit mechanical. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that sentences within paragraphs are more tightly linked.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your message clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'sponsorship', 'community', and 'international competitions'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'satisfication' instead of 'satisfaction' and 'funding to the local children team' where a verb like 'allocate' or 'provide' is missing. The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and ensure that you are using words in their correct grammatical form to enhance the sophistication of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as missing articles ('to local children's sport team'), incorrect verb forms ('I am Writing'), and issues with sentence construction ('the first and foremost reasons is that'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally require the reader to re-read to understand the intended meaning. While the errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to limit your score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and proofreading for basic punctuation and capitalization errors.
