Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter to express my feedback on your sponsorship for our area, first of all, thank you so much to the CEO of the company who decided to sponsor, I have heard that you will spend some amount on children's sports or open-air concerts.
Furthermore, there are several benefits of both options which you selected, but if you can help us make a sports team, this can be more effective for the well-being of children, because of many children have good talent in cricket and as well as other kinds of sports, but they cannot show their talent in front of others because they can not afford many essential equipment which are significant for sports, thus, if you help with this kinds of things they can play in district level as well as national levels.
On the other hand, open-air concerts are also important for the area because, there are many important functions we missed for the reason of open-air stage so that can be beneficial for the people of our area.
I request you to please spend some amount of money on the sponsorship of children's sports because they are the future of our area. I will look forward to your response.
Yours faithfully,
Patel.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter covers all parts of the task: it describes the benefits of the sports team, summarizes the benefits of the concerts, and provides a clear recommendation. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation regarding the concerts is vague, mentioning only that 'many important functions we missed,' which lacks specific detail. To reach a higher band, the response should provide more concrete examples or elaborate further on the positive impact of the concerts to create a more balanced argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, and the progression of ideas is generally clear. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore,' 'On the other hand,' and 'thus,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or repetitive, and the sentence structure within paragraphs can be a bit run-on. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the flow and make the structure more sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your points clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'sponsorship,' 'well-being,' and 'essential equipment.' However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of slightly unnatural phrasing, such as 'help us make a sports team' (which should be 'support a sports team') and 'help with this kinds of things.' To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and a wider variety of topic-specific vocabulary related to community development and corporate social responsibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, particularly with article usage ('the district level'), pluralization ('this kinds of things'), and run-on sentences where clauses are joined incorrectly with commas. For instance, the first paragraph is essentially one long sentence. Focusing on sentence boundaries and ensuring subject-verb agreement will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing. Increasing the use of varied complex structures, such as conditional sentences or relative clauses, would also help boost your score.
