Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to share my views regarding whether your company should sponsor a children's sports team or fund the two open air concert.
Firstly, sponsoring the sports team would greatly encourage children to stay physically fit and active. Second point is It would help children to get better equipment and solid training, which will assist them for future competitions.
On the other hand, promoting open air concerts definitely offer excitement for all ages. Moreover, it could attract many residents from nearby cities, which significantly helps local businesses, restaurants and shopkeepers.
In my view, while open air concerts provide a short period of pleasant experience, I believe funding children's sports team would bring a long term benefits. It could also promote youth to participate in sports to choose their career path. In addition, it reflects positive image of your company among the parents and school.
Thank you for considering my suggestions.
Yours faithfully,
Amit Yadav

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task effectively. You clearly described the benefits of the sports team and the concerts, and you provided a clear recommendation for the company's investment. Your position is consistent throughout the letter. To improve, you could expand slightly on the specific 'long-term benefits' of the sports team to ensure the ideas are fully developed rather than just mentioned. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt, which helps the reader follow your argument easily. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'On the other hand', and 'In addition' to link your ideas. However, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the transition between sentences is smoother. For instance, the second paragraph could benefit from a more sophisticated connector than 'Second point is'.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task. You use relevant terms such as 'physically fit', 'long term benefits', and 'career path'. There are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'open air concert' (should be plural 'concerts') and 'promote youth to participate' (a more natural phrasing would be 'encourage youth to participate'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, incorporating more precise collocations or less common lexical items would help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is always clear, there are some grammatical slips, such as 'It would help children to get better equipment' (the 'to' is unnecessary after 'help') and 'it reflects positive image' (missing an article: 'a positive image'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and agreement errors, such as 'fund the two open air concert'. Despite these errors, your control of grammar is generally good, and the mistakes do not impede communication.
