A large company in your area has decided to spend a certain amount of money, either to sponsor a local children's sports team for two years, or to pay for two open-air concerts. It has asked for feedback from the general public.
Write a letter to the company. In your letter

- summarise the benefits of paying for the concerts
- say how you think the company should spend the money
You do NOT need to write any addresses.
Begin your letter as follows:
Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing this letter to give my feedback on where to spend your money.
Although the local kids have gift they are lacking money. Due to which they were unable to secure their place in the local basketball championship last summer. Few of them are extremely good and can secure place in the national team if given a chance. Not only does this help you in increasing your customer base but it also encourages others to move forward and help.
Although sponsoring the sports team is a good choice, paying for two open-air concerts is also beneficial for locals. It will create employment opportunity as it brings visitors and also will be beneficial for local shop owners.
In my opinion I believe sponsoring kids will be suitable choice as they will get an opportunity to grow.
Yours faithfully,
Vidhi Shah

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all parts of the task by describing the benefits of both options and clearly stating your preference. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention the sports team needs money, you could have elaborated more on the long-term impact of such sponsorship on the community. Similarly, the benefits of the concerts are mentioned briefly. To reach a higher band, try to provide more specific examples or deeper explanations for your points to fully develop the argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Although' and 'In my opinion' to link your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and transition phrases (e.g., 'Furthermore', 'Consequently', 'On the other hand') to create a smoother progression of ideas. The paragraphing is appropriate and helps the reader follow your argument easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You use a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Words like 'employment opportunity' and 'championship' are used correctly. However, the vocabulary is somewhat repetitive and lacks the sophistication required for higher bands. There are also minor issues with word choice, such as 'local kids have gift', which should be 'have talent' or 'are gifted'. Expanding your range to include more precise adjectives and collocations would significantly enhance your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'Due to which they were unable...' (a sentence fragment) and '...will be suitable choice' (missing an article). Additionally, 'Few of them are extremely good' should be 'A few of them'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and article usage to improve your accuracy.
