Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses all three bullet points of the prompt: describing the benefits of the sports team, summarizing the benefits of the concerts, and stating a preference. However, the development of these ideas is quite limited and repetitive. For example, the explanation for the sports team focuses primarily on 'buying stuff' and 'prizes' without exploring broader community impacts. The ideas are presented in a very basic manner, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, you should expand on your points with more specific details or examples to demonstrate a deeper engagement with the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The letter is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is very limited and sometimes mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'First of all' and 'Second'. There is a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect ideas smoothly between sentences. Furthermore, the paragraphing is somewhat erratic due to the formatting issues in the text. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of transition signals (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in addition to this') to create a more natural flow between your arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive, relying on simple terms like 'stuff', 'things', and 'money'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'acciprate' (appreciate), 'teon' (the), 'audiance' (audience), and 'inculding' (including). These errors, combined with the limited range of vocabulary, restrict the ability to convey ideas with precision. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to community development, sponsorship, and event management. Avoid using vague words like 'stuff' and 'things' in favor of more descriptive nouns.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include incorrect verb forms ('they need it' instead of 'they need'), missing articles, and run-on sentences. There is a lack of complex sentence structures; the writing consists mostly of simple, short sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with irregular spacing and missing commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Once you are comfortable with simple sentences, try to combine them using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions to increase your grammatical range.
