Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear sir or Madam,
I hope all is well.
My name is Shivam, and I am a part of the local community where your company is planning to sponsor certain amount of money on either of the things sport teams or open air concerts.
The purpose of writing this letter to you is to give feedback where you should spend money.
I will start with sponsoring sport teams. There are many local sport clubs around the area where children often go to play some kind of sports. Children are very interested to play sports, so they often participate when the competition is held by the clubs. In result, it develops the fitness culture within them, thus sponsoring the fitness clubs is one of the kind initiative.
However, I have also seen today's children taking participation in open air concerts. Looking at the current scenario and "GenZ" generation particularly, they often like to go out and dance with their peers while an open air concerts are happening. They feel the vibe, and also make the connections with other children by taking place into it.
After discussing both the views, I would insist your company to sponsor the sport clubs to inspire the children to take on the sports seriously.
I hope my feedback would help you to take the right steps in the process.
Thank you and have a pleasant day.
Sincerely,
Shivam

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all three bullet points of the task: describing the benefits of the sports team, summarizing the benefits of the concerts, and providing a clear recommendation. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the benefits of the sports team are described in general terms, and the argument for the concerts could be more specific regarding the community impact. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments lack depth and could be expanded to better demonstrate the long-term value of the company's investment.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical structure with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each option, and a concluding recommendation. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the different points. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'I will start with', 'However', 'After discussing both the views'). While the progression of ideas is clear, the transitions between sentences could be more sophisticated to improve the flow of the text. Overall, the response is easy to follow, but the cohesive links lack variety.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their message clearly. There are some attempts at more specific vocabulary, such as 'fitness culture' and 'current scenario'. However, there are instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'sponsor certain amount of money on either of the things' and 'taking place into it'. The range of vocabulary is sufficient for the task but lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score. More idiomatic expressions or precise collocations would improve the quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'the purpose of writing this letter to you is to give feedback where you should spend money' (missing 'on') and 'an open air concerts' (subject-verb agreement error). Punctuation is generally correct, but some sentences are slightly clunky. The frequency of these errors does not impede communication, but they do indicate a need for more consistent control over complex grammatical forms.
