Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to describing some suggestions about both areas where company is considering to spend money.
To begin with, as i am a sport person, therefore utilized money on sport team, is a best option not only for children to stay fit and make their career in the sports while playing, but also for the nation as they can represent their country worldwide. In addition, firm can also get in the return if team wins any prize, the company can keep some part of it.
On the other hand, although, sport is beneficial for the teenagers, concerts play different role in the aspect of entertainment, as in the sport team only particular children can joined, but in concert almost every aged group can enjoy good time with their family and friends.
Furthermore, according to my point of view the company should spend money on open-air-concert, because it would be beneficial for everyone.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours Faithfully.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: the benefits of the sports team, the benefits of the concerts, and a clear recommendation. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the suggestion that the company could 'keep some part of it' if the team wins a prize is not a realistic or standard benefit of corporate sponsorship. The recommendation for the concerts is clear, but the justification could be more detailed to fully satisfy the requirements of a Band 7 response. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, though the structure of the arguments is slightly simplistic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'In addition', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore' are used to link sentences and paragraphs. However, some of these transitions are used slightly awkwardly, such as 'although, sport is beneficial... concerts play different role', where the punctuation and structure hinder the flow. While the overall arrangement is logical, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical rather than natural, which prevents a higher score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing or incorrect word choices, such as 'utilized money on sport team' (should be 'investing money in a sports team') and 'in the aspect of entertainment'. The student relies on basic vocabulary to convey ideas. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of more sophisticated collocations or varied terminology limits the lexical score. There are also minor errors in word formation, such as 'sport person' instead of 'sports enthusiast'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's flow. Examples include 'I am writing to describing' (should be 'to describe'), 'as i am a sport person, therefore utilized money' (run-on/comma splice error), and 'in the sport team only particular children can joined' (incorrect verb form). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas. While the meaning is usually understandable, the frequency of these errors indicates a lack of control over complex grammatical structures.
