Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to respond to your company's request for public feedback regarding the allocation of your community sponsorship fund. I think it is commendable that you are investing in our local area, and I am pleased to offer my perspective on two proposed events.
Sponsoring to Sports team of children's for two years would offer long-term benefits. Firstly, it will provide team-work, physical well-being and along with this it will give accessibility to healthy activities. Secondly, you logo will be displayed on your team uniform.
Funding to open air concerts is also a great idea. This will bring people of diverse community all together at one place to enjoy musical events. Furthermore, it will boost the nearby small businesses, restaurants or any small stalls during event.
In my opinion, the company should choose to sponsor the children's sports team for two years. As it will provide a lasting legacy for the next generation. In contrast, funding to open-air concerts is short lived.
Thank you for considering my feedback.
Yours faithfully,
Krishna

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all parts of the prompt, including describing the benefits of both options and providing a clear recommendation. Your position is consistent throughout the letter. To improve, ensure that your ideas are fully developed. For example, when discussing the sports team, you mention 'physical well-being' and 'accessibility,' but these points could be expanded with a brief explanation of how this impacts the community. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter, and the structure follows the requirements of a General Training Task 1 response effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with clear paragraphing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly,' 'Secondly,' and 'Furthermore' to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For instance, the transition in the third paragraph could be improved by linking the benefits of the concerts more fluidly. The use of referencing is generally clear, though some minor improvements in the variety of cohesive devices would help elevate the score to a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'commendable,' 'allocation,' and 'diverse community.' There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'Sponsoring to Sports team' (should be 'Sponsoring a sports team') and 'you logo' (should be 'your logo'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precision in your word usage. Expanding your vocabulary to include more sophisticated collocations related to community funding would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'Funding to open air concerts' (should be 'Funding open-air concerts') and 'bring people of diverse community all together' (should be 'bring people from diverse communities together'). Additionally, there is a sentence fragment in the final paragraph: 'As it will provide a lasting legacy for the next generation.' This should be joined to the previous sentence. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and preposition usage will help improve your accuracy.
