Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter regarding your compony spent good amount of money not only in the children's sport team, but also for two open ground concerts.
Primarily, sponsoring the sport team improve children's motivation towards sport. As children's physical and mental health will be improve, playing games in the sport team. As well as, children can make new friends in the sports team.
Furthermore, if compony pay money in the concert, people feel less stress. Thus, they can concentrate on their work.
Moreover, in my opinion, company should invest money in concert, from that all family member can go to the concert and spent quality time with each other. When, company spend money in the concert, people do not have any burden to spent lot of money in concert ticket. So, they can enjoy concert without spending money.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all three bullet points of the prompt: the benefits of the sports team, the benefits of the concerts, and a clear recommendation. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the benefits of the sports team are described in simple terms, and the argument for the concert focuses heavily on the financial aspect for the public. While the task is fulfilled, the ideas lack depth and the tone is occasionally informal, which is not ideal for a formal letter to a company. To improve, you should expand on the long-term impact of these initiatives rather than just listing basic advantages.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Primarily', 'Furthermore', and 'Moreover' to transition between ideas. However, some of these transitions feel mechanical or slightly misused, such as 'As well as' at the start of a sentence. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your sentences are connected more naturally rather than relying on a rigid list-like structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic. There are several instances of word-choice errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'compony' instead of 'company' and 'spent' used incorrectly as a verb in the present tense (e.g., 'your compony spent good amount'). The range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little attempt to use more sophisticated or topic-specific collocations. To improve, focus on learning the correct forms of verbs and nouns, and try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to community investment and social benefits.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. There are consistent issues with verb tense and subject-verb agreement, such as 'sponsoring the sport team improve' (should be 'improves') and 'health will be improve' (should be 'improved'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences often contain errors, such as 'When, company spend money in the concert, people do not have any burden'. You need to work on basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with verb forms and article usage, to ensure your meaning is conveyed clearly.
