Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear team,

I would like to write a letter about giving a feedback on your funding regarding sponsoring of children sports team and open air concert. As per my opinion you should invest in children's sports team. I am also mentioning reason for this.

Firstly, it is a very good chance to invest in any sports related activity to catch the attention of youth and children. It can helps to get a enough facilities for a children and it can be really beneficial for the childes. I think it is a good choice to give company contribution for the young generation and future of the country as sports can inspire the children's to make their career in a such activities.

However, invest in a any concert is also a right decision for the adverteisment and getting more popularity of the organization. Nowadays folks are really like to attend the concert and it can give them a some level of refreshment from their hectic work life. So, paying for a concert is also wise decision.

As per my opinion, company should invest their money equally for both activity hence, both have their own advantages.

Thank you for my consideration.

Kind regards,

Dharti

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points: describing the benefits of the sports team, the benefits of the concerts, and providing a recommendation. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that sports help youth and concerts provide refreshment, these points are not fully extended or supported with specific examples. The recommendation to split the money is clear, but the justification for this shift from your initial stance is brief. To improve, ensure each point is developed with more depth and detail to better meet the requirements of a formal letter.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'However', and 'So' to connect ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'both have their own advantages' refers back to two options, but the transition could be smoother). The opening and closing are appropriate for a formal letter, though the salutation 'Dear team' is slightly informal for a general public request.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'contribution', 'refreshment', and 'hectic'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'giving a feedback', 'get a enough facilities', and 'folks are really like to attend'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To reach a higher band, focus on using more natural collocations and avoiding repetitive or grammatically incorrect word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include article misuse ('a children', 'a enough facilities'), subject-verb agreement ('It can helps', 'folks are really like'), and pluralization errors ('childes', 'both activity'). While these errors are noticeable, they rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. To improve, pay closer attention to basic grammar rules, particularly articles and verb forms, and proofread your work to catch these slips.
