Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly describe the benefits of the sports team, summarize the benefits of the concerts, and state your preference. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of how sports foster children is a bit repetitive and lacks depth. To improve, try to expand on the long-term impact of these initiatives rather than just listing general benefits. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, though the opening salutation 'Respected Meghmani Industry' is non-standard for IELTS; 'Dear Sir or Madam' or 'To the Management' would be more natural.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, each focusing on a specific part of the task. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Consequently', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the opening sentence where the phrasing 'whether wherewithal should be dedicated' is awkward and obscures the meaning. Paragraphing is present, but the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother to improve the overall progression of your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting to use more sophisticated terms like 'ameliorate' and 'utilisation'. However, there are several instances of unnatural collocation and word choice errors, such as 'valuable survey on whether wherewithal should be dedicated' and 'fostered them to play sports'. These errors occasionally make the text difficult to follow. To reach a higher band, focus on using words in their correct context and improving your grasp of natural English collocations rather than relying on complex words that may not fit the sentence structure perfectly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'the doors will be opened for local children being fostered them to play sports' and 'money should be raised to sports team'. There are also issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the clarity of your message. Focusing on basic subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will help improve your accuracy significantly.
