Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: describing the benefits of the sports team, summarizing the benefits of the concerts, and stating your preference. Your position is clear from the start and maintained throughout the letter. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat basic. For example, while you mention 'communication' and 'leadership skills' for the sports team, these points could be expanded further to fully meet the criteria for a higher band. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter, and the purpose is clear to the reader.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, with each paragraph focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand' and 'I believe' to transition between ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by repetitive sentence structures and a lack of varied linking words. Some sentences feel disconnected, such as the transition between 'independent' and 'it also encourage' in the second paragraph. Improving the variety of your cohesive devices would help the ideas flow more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You use a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'physically and mentally fit' and 'refresh their mind'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'whether spend money' instead of 'whether to spend money' and 'take part in concerts' which is slightly repetitive. You rely on fairly common vocabulary; to reach a higher band, you should attempt to use more precise or sophisticated collocations related to community support and social benefits.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'it also encourage children'), missing articles (e.g., 'playing a sports'), and punctuation errors (e.g., 'open -air'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency of the writing. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for small errors like pluralization and verb endings will significantly improve your score.
