Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to address the task requirements adequately. While you mention sports, you do not describe the benefits of the sports team in any detail, nor do you summarize the benefits of the concerts at all. Furthermore, you do not clearly state your preference for how the money should be spent. The letter is significantly under the 150-word minimum, which prevents the development of ideas. To improve, you must ensure each bullet point in the prompt is addressed with specific, extended points and ensure the response meets the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter lacks logical organization and paragraphing. The ideas are presented in a single, run-on block of text, making it difficult to follow the progression of your argument. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link your sentences; for example, the transition between the sports topic and the request for permission is abrupt and unclear. To improve, use clear paragraph breaks for each section of the letter and employ linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' to connect your ideas logically.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You use basic words like 'work', 'funds', and 'spend' repeatedly. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'papular' instead of 'popular' and 'sincerly' instead of 'sincerely'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas or provide a detailed argument. To improve, try to incorporate more varied and precise vocabulary related to community projects and financial sponsorship, and pay closer attention to spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are issues with sentence structure, such as comma splices and run-on sentences (e.g., 'I am jashanpreet singh , a resident of brampton , i am writing this letter...'). Punctuation is inconsistent, with many missing capital letters and incorrect spacing around commas. The range of grammatical structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, focus on using correct sentence boundaries, proper capitalization, and a mix of simple and complex sentence structures.
