Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses all three bullet points of the prompt, but the development of ideas is quite limited due to the brevity of the text. The letter is significantly under the 150-word minimum, which prevents a full exploration of the benefits of the sports team and the concerts. While the writer provides a clear recommendation, the lack of depth and the failure to meet the length requirement mean the task is only partially addressed. To improve, you should expand on your arguments with specific examples or hypothetical scenarios to reach the required word count.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical. For example, 'Where as' is used incorrectly to start a sentence, and the transition between ideas is abrupt. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the suggestion to split the money is introduced without a smooth logical bridge from the previous points. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used accurately will help the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits the ability to convey ideas with precision. There are several noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'helps full for society' instead of 'helpful for society' and 'lake of money' instead of 'lack of money'. These errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher band, you should focus on using more precise vocabulary related to business and community benefits and ensure that common collocations are used correctly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'I am writing the letter with the suggestion related to spend money' (should be 'to spending money'), 'will not playing' (should be 'will not be playing'), and 'will good entertainment' (missing verb). These errors are frequent and sometimes distort the intended meaning. While the message is generally understandable, the lack of complex structures and the high frequency of basic errors limit the score in this criterion.
