Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir or Madam,

This main purpose of writing this letter is to provide my own recommondation for the organisation of my surrounding area which is planning to spend some money either on local teenagers'sports team for two years or for organising open-air concert.

Sponsoring sport team of children would be the great decision for company becasuse it gives ample of benifits to those teenagers and company. Those all who are practicing a lot for any particuler sport would get a change to showcase their skills and performance and it would all be helpfull to get an opportunity to get qualify for an international level championship. The company would earn some more profit from that league if one of those team would be the winner of the final match.

The main advantages to organise the open-air concert is to advertise openly for its product and barnd. More and more people will get participate in the concert, so they would get to know about company's brand value. Apart from this, people will enjoy with the music and their favourite singers would be the great memory for them.

Yours faithfully,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: describing the benefits of the sports team, summarizing the concert benefits, and providing a recommendation. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the suggestion that the company would earn profit from a local children's sports team is slightly unrealistic and lacks depth. To reach a higher band, ensure your arguments are more logical and fully extended. While the purpose of the letter is clear, the tone is occasionally inconsistent with a formal letter, and the recommendation could be more persuasively argued with more specific reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Apart from this' and 'The main advantages', which assist in linking ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. For example, the opening sentence is quite long and slightly disjointed. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the progression between sentences is smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate for a formal letter, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be more refined.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'showcase their skills' and 'brand value'. However, there are several spelling errors ('recommondation', 'teenagers'sports', 'becasuse', 'benifits', 'particuler', 'barnd') and some awkward collocations like 'gives ample of benifits'. These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not prevent the message from being understood. To improve, focus on proofreading for common spelling mistakes and expanding your use of more precise, academic vocabulary to replace generic terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is a positive step. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as missing articles ('the' company, 'a' change), incorrect verb forms ('get participate'), and issues with subject-verb agreement ('one of those team would be'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. To progress, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly article usage and pluralization, before attempting more complex structures.
