A large company in your area has decided to spend a certain amount of money, either to sponsor a local children's sports team for two years, or to pay for two open-air concerts. It has asked for feedback from the general public.

You do NOT need to write any addresses.
Begin your letter as follows:
Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to express my opinion on sponsoring the local children's games or two open-air concerts.
Spending the money on local children's sports for two years can help young individuals to practice and choose whatever sports they prefer. This will enhance their confidence because while practicing and playing multiple sports, they will develop valuable life skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, and teamwork. Therefore, this initiative is essential for overall growth of the young generation.
However, hosting two open-air concerts could create a sense of community among individuals. With this option, not only the kids but also other people can enjoy and get a chance to witness a unique social experience.
But I prefer your organization to spend this substantial amount of money on children. As they are the future of the nation. Their personality development and skill enhancement are significantly important.
Thank you for considering my opinion. I will be happy whatever your organization will choose.
Yours faithfully,
Davis Will

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt effectively. You clearly describe the benefits of the sports team and the concerts, and you provide a definite recommendation. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are fully developed; for instance, the section on the concerts is somewhat brief compared to the sports team section. Expanding slightly on how the concerts might benefit the local economy or specific demographics would provide a more balanced and comprehensive response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph focuses on a distinct aspect of the task, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Therefore', and 'not only... but also' to link ideas. To improve, ensure that transitions between sentences are smoother. For example, the final paragraph is a bit abrupt; adding a concluding sentence that summarizes your stance or looks forward to the company's decision would enhance the overall flow and cohesion of the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your ideas clearly. Phrases like 'unique social experience' and 'personality development' are used accurately. However, there is some repetition of basic words like 'money' and 'spend'. To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms or collocations related to corporate social responsibility or community engagement. While your word choice is generally precise, increasing the variety of your vocabulary would help you achieve a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, and your meaning is always clear. There are a few minor grammatical slips, such as 'I prefer your organization to spend' (which should be 'I would prefer your organization to spend') and 'whatever your organization will choose' (which should be 'whatever your organization chooses'). Despite these minor errors, your control of grammar is good, and the punctuation is generally accurate. To reach a higher band, focus on ensuring consistent subject-verb agreement and refining your use of conditional structures.
