I am writing to give suggestion upon spending money for sports team for local children in your area.

The advantages for sport team is that they can buy a good quality of equiments for there team which will be benefit for team to provide a good performance with the best and latest equipment in the sport.

Howeever, there is also benefit for open air concerts in which they can meet different people from the same sport and share there knowlegde about the game which can improve there game in future.

I think the organization should spend on equipment for the sport team so that for long term they can easily practice and also prepare for future game with more confidence with the new kit this will boost there energy as well as there spirit to play for thee team.

I hope you like my suggestion upon spending money or sponsor our local children sport team.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses all three bullet points of the prompt, covering the benefits of the sports team, the concerts, and a clear recommendation. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of the concert benefits is slightly confusing, as the student suggests concerts are for meeting people from the 'same sport' to share knowledge, which does not logically align with the nature of an open-air concert. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments lack depth and precision, keeping the response at a Band 5 level for this criterion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite mechanical and sometimes inaccurate. For example, the transition 'Howeever' is used to introduce the second point, but the connection between the two ideas is weak. There is also a lack of variety in linking words, and the flow between sentences feels somewhat disjointed. The paragraphing is present but could be more effectively used to separate the distinct points of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. The student frequently uses basic terms like 'good' and 'benefit'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'equiments' instead of 'equipment', 'there' instead of 'their', and 'knowlegde' instead of 'knowledge'. These errors are frequent and occasionally distract the reader. To reach a higher band, the student needs to demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary and improve accuracy in spelling and word choice, particularly regarding collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are attempts at complex sentences, they are often marred by grammatical errors, such as 'I am writing to give suggestion upon spending money' (missing article) and 'this will boost there energy as well as there spirit to play for thee team' (incorrect pronoun usage and spelling). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the closing salutation. The frequency of errors is high enough to cause some difficulty for the reader, though the overall meaning remains understandable.
