Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to provide my feedback on the money going to spend on either a local children's sports team or for an open-air concerts in our area.

I believe, sponsoring the sports team has numerous benefits to the local people. Firstly, local communities will get the chance to play sports with adequate equipments and knowlegeable coaches, that will further help children's to enhance their skills and build their careers in sports. Moreover, youngester will start utilising their free time effectively by doing sports activities, which has aslo beneficial for their physical as well as mental health.

However, concerts have huge impact on general public as it gives the best way to unwind the stress and feel refreshed by listening favourite musicians live. Also, these concerts are economically beneficial for public, as they bring prosperity to the community.

Honestly, I think that company should spend on sports team because todays generation much needed events which help them to improve their physical activities. Sports is the best alternative of the screentime for childrens.

I hope you will consider my feedback and invest you money thoughtfully in the field which is more essential for todays public.

Yours faithfully,

Kamal

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly describe the benefits of the sports team and the concerts, and you provide a clear recommendation for the company. The ideas are relevant and logically developed. However, the development of the points is somewhat basic. For example, while you mention that concerts bring prosperity, this could be expanded with more specific detail to reach a higher band. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter, and the position is consistent throughout the text.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific part of the task. You use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', 'However', and 'Also' to guide the reader through your arguments. While the progression is generally clear, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The use of referencing is mostly accurate, though there are minor issues with sentence-level flow, such as the slightly awkward phrasing in the opening sentence. Overall, the paragraphing is sufficient and contributes to a coherent response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'adequate', 'knowledgeable', 'utilising', and 'economically beneficial'. There are some noticeable errors in word choice and form, such as 'equipments' (equipment is uncountable), 'knowlegeable' (spelling), 'youngester' (youngsters), and 'aslo' (also). While these errors are present, they do not impede communication. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring correct word forms for uncountable nouns.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'I believe, sponsoring the sports team has numerous benefits...' and 'Sports is the best alternative of the screentime for childrens.' However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('company should spend', 'childrens' as a plural), missing articles, and punctuation errors (unnecessary commas). While these errors are noticeable, the meaning remains clear throughout the letter. Increasing the accuracy of basic grammar and proofreading for pluralization would help elevate your score.
