Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir,
I am writing to give my feedback on the sum of money your company is going to spend in our town. As a responsible resident, I analyze both perspectives that children should get two years of sponsorship in sports or the
community should receive funds for entertainment purposes.
To begin with, if company is spending money for children, it will give them several benefits. Firstly, it will encourage children to participate in sports and make them mentally and physcially active. Furthermore, families with low-income would get support in order to by equipments and uniforms. Lastly, it will help the company to maintain a positive image for the public.
Moreover, if company is going to pay for the concerts, it will help the local economy. Residents will get entertainment at affordable price, and it will attract more visitors which will help to gain more customers for the local shops and restaurants. Additionally, local artistis and musician will be able to get a chance to perform.
In my opinion, company should spend money for the children's future. Sponsoring children in sports will leave a long-term impacts rathar than organizing two concerts. I hope company will consider my perpectives and will make a reasonable decision.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly described the benefits of the sports sponsorship, summarized the advantages of the concerts, and provided a clear recommendation for the company's decision. Your position is consistent throughout the letter. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are slightly more developed; for instance, when discussing the 'positive image' for the company, you could briefly explain how this might translate into long-term community loyalty. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets all the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each option, and a concluding recommendation. You use transition signals such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'In my opinion' to guide the reader through your arguments. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate distinct ideas. While the flow is generally good, some of the cohesive devices are slightly repetitive or mechanical. To improve, try to vary your linking phrases and ensure that the transition between sentences within paragraphs is smoother to achieve a more natural, sophisticated progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'responsible resident', 'entertainment purposes', and 'long-term impacts'. However, there are some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'physcially' (physically), 'by' (buy), 'artistis' (artists), and 'rathar' (rather). Additionally, some phrases like 'gain more customers' could be more precisely expressed as 'increase patronage'. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on accurate spelling and more precise collocations will help improve your score in this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are several grammatical errors, particularly regarding articles (e.g., 'if company is spending' should be 'if the company is spending') and pluralization (e.g., 'local artistis and musician' should be 'local artists and musicians'). While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede the reader's understanding of your message. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of definite and indefinite articles, as these are recurring issues throughout your writing.
