Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses all three bullet points, but the development is limited. The letter is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence, which prevents a full conclusion. Furthermore, the response is under the 150-word minimum, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. While the ideas regarding the sports team and concerts are relevant, they lack sufficient detail and depth to fully satisfy the requirements of the prompt. To improve, ensure you complete all sections of the letter and expand on your arguments with specific examples or explanations to meet the word count requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate, such as the awkward transition 'Apart from this' and the incomplete final paragraph. The progression of ideas is logical, but the abrupt ending disrupts the overall flow of the letter. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, complete concluding thought.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'high sprite of sports' (likely meaning 'spirit'), 'prove their selves' (reflexive pronoun error), and 'gain more fam' (informal/slang). These errors occasionally hinder the clarity of the message. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary and avoid informal expressions. Focus on learning common collocations related to sponsorship and community events.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Kids who has planning', 'open concert has their own advantages') and incorrect word forms ('which will helps'). These errors are noticeable and sometimes make the text difficult to follow. To improve, pay close attention to basic grammar rules, particularly subject-verb agreement and verb tenses. Proofreading your work for these common errors before finishing would be highly beneficial.
