Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter as a local community member supporting the remuneration of both local children's sports and the two open-air concerts.

It's undeniable fact that sponsoring the sports team would give innumerable benefits for the poor children and their family who cannot support and afford due to extravegant prices for sport equipments. Also children can get chance to apply their skills and think out of box through different sports and activities. Supporting through matches give them competitivness which helps them to improve in their particular interests

Nowadays people fascinates with the loud music and concerts and for the same young people and children should have entertainment events at community to enhance their skills and productivity.

According to my perspective, company should follow fairness and hence partly contribute the money to facilitate both children's need and community.

I hope my feedback will give a positive difference.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: describing the benefits of the sports team, the benefits of the concerts, and providing a recommendation. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the benefits of the sports team are mentioned, but the explanation regarding 'competitiveness' is a bit vague. Similarly, the suggestion to split the money is a clear position, but it lacks a detailed justification for why this compromise would be more effective than choosing one option. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are more fully extended with specific examples or clearer reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'Also', 'Nowadays', and 'According to my perspective' to link ideas. However, the transition between the benefits of the concerts and your final recommendation is somewhat abrupt. Additionally, some sentences are slightly disjointed, such as the second paragraph where the connection between 'extravegant prices' and 'think out of box' could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring a more natural flow between sentences would enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'innumerable', 'competitiveness', and 'productivity'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'supporting the remuneration of' (remuneration usually refers to payment for work), 'people fascinates with' (should be 'are fascinated by'), and 'extravegant prices' (spelling error: extravagant). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise vocabulary usage and better attention to spelling and word forms to achieve a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'It's undeniable fact' (missing article 'an'), 'cannot support and afford due to' (missing object), 'children can get chance' (missing article 'a'), and 'company should follow' (missing article 'the'). While your meaning remains clear, these persistent errors in articles and sentence construction prevent the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy will significantly improve your score.
