Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hope this letter finds you well. My name is Sam Mistry and, I am writing this for the feedback that your company asked about the money that your company want to spend.
I have been to the sports team and I noticed that they do not have enough kit and some other facilities. So by sponsoring them, the sports team can buy sport kit for the children. Moreover, with enough facilities, the sports team can build good players.
On the other side, the benefits of paying fir the two open-air concerts are huge because it will give every person in our local area to attend the concerts. Some of them have never been to the concert. Therefore, it will benefit them.
I think company should invest their money in sponsoring the sports team because with it will help sports team to grow.
Yours faithfully,
Sam Mistry

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: describing the benefits of the sports team, summarizing the benefits of the concerts, and providing a recommendation. However, the development of these ideas is quite limited. For instance, the benefits of the concerts are described in very general terms ('it will benefit them'), and the recommendation lacks a strong, persuasive justification beyond repeating that it will help the team 'grow'. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or elaborate on the long-term impact of your choice to better convince the reader.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure of the response. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'On the other side', and 'Therefore' to link your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally slightly unclear, such as in the phrase 'I have been to the sports team', which is an awkward way to express your connection to the group.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic. You rely on simple descriptors like 'huge', 'good', and 'enough'. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'paying fir' (a typo) and 'I have been to the sports team', which is not a natural collocation. To improve, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to community development, sponsorship, and event management. Using a wider range of synonyms and more sophisticated collocations would significantly enhance your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical inaccuracies. For example, 'I am writing this for the feedback that your company asked about' is clunky, and 'I think company should invest' is missing an article ('the'). There are also issues with preposition usage and sentence construction, such as 'it will give every person... to attend'. These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score.
