Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing this letter to you regarding the feedback that you asked related to money you want to spend, either on children's sports team for the next two years or to open-air concerts.
There are plethora of positives of investing money on sports team, firstly, it encourages youngsters to keep themselves physical fit and more individual will take part in sports activities. Since our area team do not have any sponsor, it would be great for the teams to manage their expensive if you sponsor them.
However, if you want to pay for concerts, it could be beneficial for local public. It has been so long since they saw any live concert. Spending money on it not only entertain the community but also give chance to participate in it if they want to show their talent.
I think, both ideas are equally important; therefore, spending money on both could be a better option. For example, the company can sponsor children's team for one year and they can pay for only one open-sir concert.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Yours sincerely,
Harshpreet Singh

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all parts of the prompt by describing the benefits of both options and providing a clear recommendation. The ideas are relevant and logically presented. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat brief. For instance, while you mention that sponsoring a sports team helps youngsters stay fit, expanding on how this impacts the community long-term would strengthen the response. Similarly, the suggestion to split the funding is a practical solution, but it could be supported by a brief explanation of why this compromise is superior to choosing just one option. Overall, the task is fulfilled effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each option, and a concluding recommendation. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'firstly', 'however', and 'therefore' to connect your ideas. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the distinct points of the letter. To reach a higher band, try to vary your linking words and ensure that referencing (e.g., 'it', 'this') is always precise to avoid any ambiguity regarding which option is being discussed.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task. Phrases like 'plethora of positives' and 'beneficial for local public' show an attempt to use more sophisticated language. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'manage their expensive' (should be 'expenses') and 'physical fit' (should be 'physically fit'). Additionally, 'open-sir' is a spelling error. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate that your control over less common lexical items is not yet fully consistent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'related to money you want to spend' (missing 'the'), 'more individual will take part' (should be 'more individuals'), and 'not only entertain the community but also give chance' (missing articles). These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, as these are recurring issues in your writing.
