Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear sir,
I am writing to provide feedback for the decision of spending money on a local children's sports club team, or to pay for two open-air concerts.
Children are the future of our country. spending money to support them will help our nation as whole. Not every family can afford to make their kids a best sportsman. By sponsoring you will not only support the exceptional talents but provide them with opportunity to make the country proud by Winning medals in national and international tournaments.
Concerts are a good way to attract tourism. Many a time people travel to certain destination with the sole purpose of attending concerts. During their stay, they will spend money which will contribute in the growth of our economy.
I believe you should spend 25% of the money on concern as it is a good way to increasing tourism in our country. The other 75% should be spend on sponsoring children sport by to motivate the exceptional talent in our country to allowing them to learn and participate and make our nation proud.
Hope you will consider my feedback. I am looking forward to hear from you soon.
Thanks & Regards,
Reshma

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly describe the benefits of the sports team and the concerts, and you provide a specific recommendation for the budget allocation. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the argument regarding the sports team could be more specific about how the company benefits from this sponsorship beyond just 'making the country proud'. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are fully extended with more concrete reasoning or examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the task. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Not only... but', 'During their stay', and 'The other 75%'. While the progression of ideas is clear, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes a bit mechanical or repetitive. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the transition between your recommendation and the supporting reasons is smoother. Overall, the structure is easy to follow and serves the purpose of the letter well.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'exceptional talents', 'contribute in the growth', and 'attract tourism'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'make their kids a best sportsman' (should be 'help their children become top athletes') and 'spend money on concern' (should be 'concerts'). Additionally, 'spend' is used repeatedly where 'invest' or 'allocate' would be more precise. Expanding your vocabulary to include more topic-specific collocations would help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'spending money to support them will help our nation as whole' (missing article 'a'), 'Winning' (should be lowercase), and 'looking forward to hear' (should be 'looking forward to hearing'). There are also issues with verb forms, such as 'should be spend' (should be 'should be spent') and 'to allowing them' (should be 'to allow them'). Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct verb forms will significantly improve your accuracy.
