Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Arvind sir,

My name is Vedang Tripathi. I am a resident of jamshedpur tata township. I am employee of tata steel and I am always to pleased to work in this dignified organisation since 2019. I am writing this letter to provide my feedback regarding charity for the people of the jamshedpur.

To be more specific, the first point is that general public perspective soughted by the company administrator to identify the public notion for the correct way of spending money. I would like to draw your attention in this regard that sponsoring childeren's sports is positive step to encourage young player to take it as career opportunities instead of relying on rudimentory jobs.

The second point is, my perspective on this is, indulging in the sport activity with childeren, it enhances the public relation between company and city dwellers. Additionally, sponsoring such events creates complimentory marketing for company. Sports team is wonderful option to make companies reputation intact in crisis. Furthermore, monatarily is feasible way to invest in talent to promote different sports and create business venture around this.

I will be look forward to receive a response from you. I hope you consider my kind suggestion and hope to collaborate with the company regarding this matter.

Thanks Sincerely

Vedang Tripathi

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed all parts of the prompt, including describing the benefits of the sports team and the concerts, and providing a clear recommendation. However, the response is somewhat unbalanced. You spent significant space discussing the sports team but failed to provide any specific benefits of the open-air concerts, which was a key requirement of the task. Additionally, the tone is occasionally inconsistent with a formal letter, and some points, such as the 'rudimentary jobs' comment, are slightly unclear in context. To improve, ensure each bullet point from the prompt is given equal weight and developed with clear, relevant arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'Additionally' and 'Furthermore' to link ideas. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed. For instance, the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt. Some referencing is also unclear, such as 'my perspective on this is' followed by a new point. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would help the flow of your writing significantly.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'dignified', 'perspective', and 'monetarily'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and incorrect collocations, such as 'always to pleased', 'soughted', and 'complimentory marketing'. Some terms are used incorrectly, such as 'rudimentory' instead of 'menial' or 'unskilled'. While your meaning is generally clear, these errors indicate a need for more precise vocabulary usage and better attention to spelling and word forms to reach a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'I am employee'), missing articles (e.g., 'in crisis'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'I will be look forward to receive'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, article usage, and ensuring that verb tenses are consistent throughout your writing.
