Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt partially. While you mention the benefits of sports, you fail to address the second bullet point regarding the benefits of the concerts entirely. The letter lacks a clear structure, and the tone is not consistently appropriate for a formal letter to a company. The ideas are repetitive, focusing almost exclusively on the need for a playground rather than comparing the two options provided in the task. To improve, ensure you address every bullet point in the prompt with equal weight and develop your ideas with more specific, relevant details.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter lacks paragraphing, which makes it difficult to follow the progression of ideas. There is no clear introduction or conclusion, and the flow between sentences is disjointed. You rely on simple connectors like 'First' and 'And second', but these are not used effectively to link complex ideas. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as when you shift between discussing a sports team and building a playground. To improve, use clear paragraph breaks for each section of the letter and employ a wider range of cohesive devices to connect your arguments logically.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'no any' are used incorrectly multiple times, and there is a lack of variety in your word choice. You rely on basic terms such as 'play ground' and 'children' throughout the text. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to community development and sponsorship, such as 'infrastructure', 'recreational facilities', 'community engagement', or 'financial support'. Expanding your range of adjectives and verbs will help you express your ideas with more clarity and sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the response, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage (e.g., 'there is no any', 'children has no', 'company should spend money for the children'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and there are errors in verb tense and form, such as 'can not be playing' and 'can be enjoy'. These errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically the correct use of auxiliary verbs and pluralization, before attempting more complex structures.
