Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: the benefits of the sports team, the benefits of the concerts, and a clear recommendation. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the explanation of the concerts is slightly confusing, as it suggests the company would earn money from the concerts to donate to charity, rather than the company spending its own budget as the prompt implies. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments lack depth and precision. To improve, ensure that your ideas directly align with the prompt's scenario and provide more specific, logical examples for each point.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is a basic attempt at using cohesive devices, such as 'Both', 'It is also', and 'So'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and some transitions are missing or awkward, such as the sudden shift in the second paragraph. The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, which creates minor disruptions in the logical progression of ideas. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'illustrate ab advices' (instead of 'provide some advice') and 'make children more stronger' (a double comparative). Phrases like 'stress booster' and 'orphan house' are understandable but not the most natural choices in this context. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and more precise academic or formal vocabulary. Avoid repeating simple words and try to incorporate more varied, topic-specific terminology related to community investment and sponsorship.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('It is also work'), article usage ('on sport team'), and verb forms ('I am think', 'you will chose'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not fully impede communication. To improve, you should focus on basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring correct verb tenses and avoiding common errors with plurals and articles. Proofreading for these small, recurring mistakes would significantly improve your score.
