Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing you as a local resident, I would like to give you the feedback about your investment to promote sports team or an open air concert.
I would like to suggest that to sponsor a sports team will be a silver spoon to a lot of player, which will facilitate them to make their career in the sports. Furthermore, your this support will encourage a lot of new other children to leave out the mobiles and come on to the field for playing sports.
On the other hand, financing an open air concert will be the also great idea, because it will be chance for everyone to be relax from their daily life’s challenges. Further, the artists also have their influence on public, either they are kids or adults, artist’s positive performance do provide a pump to everyone, specially to kids to become artist like them.
However, both ways are good but I would like to encourage you to invest on sports team, which is going to give chance to number of players at the moment.
I hope I gave you the best feedback as I can give, thank you so much.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly describe the benefits of the sports team, summarize the benefits of the concerts, and provide a clear recommendation. The ideas are relevant and the position is consistent throughout the letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For example, the explanation of why concerts provide a 'pump' to the public is a bit vague. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your points with more specific examples or deeper reasoning, ensuring the tone remains consistently formal and appropriate for a business letter.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'On the other hand', and 'However' to transition between ideas. However, some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'your this support'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would improve the flow of your writing. Overall, the structure is clear and serves the purpose of the task well.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message, but there are instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect collocations. For example, the idiom 'silver spoon' is used incorrectly in this context, and 'leave out the mobiles' is not natural English. Phrases like 'provide a pump' are also non-standard. While your meaning is generally clear, the lack of precision in word choice limits your score. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more precise academic or formal vocabulary rather than attempting to use idioms that may not fit the context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'I am writing you as a local resident' (should be 'writing to you'), 'your this support' (should be 'this support of yours'), and 'either they are kids or adults' (should be 'whether they are children or adults'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma splices. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will help improve your accuracy.
