Student answer (Band 5.5)

Dear sir or madam,

I am writing this letter to thank you for sponsoring our villages Childrens sports team and two open-air concerts. This sponsorship can make a significant change in our childrens sports team. Also we can access high quality sports good s and hire a well known coach for the sports team. by this initiative we can boost our childrens performance and make them capable for participating in upcoming sports events, By giving new experienced coach and equipements will sky rocket their confidence level.

on the other hand sponsoring open air concerts we can effectively plan this years open arts and sports mega bash 2026. By this sponsorship we can conduct the program 100 times better than the previous years, in previous year without proper lighting during night sports events became very difficult for childrens, also we cannot provide proper gifts because of the shortage in sports fund. in coming years with your companys support we can everything outstanding and am very thankfull for this intiative.

i have a humble suggestion for spending the money for team and concerts, do not transfer the sponsorship money fully in one time, because issued total in one time there is a chance for misusing the amount.you only need to release the fund with proper quatation from them

thanking you

ramji

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The letter addresses all three bullet points: the benefits of the sports team, the benefits of the concerts, and a recommendation. However, the response is slightly confused in its premise; you thank the company for sponsoring things that they have not yet decided to fund, which makes the tone slightly illogical. While the ideas are relevant, the development is somewhat repetitive, particularly regarding the sports team. To improve, ensure your tone remains consistent with the prompt's scenario—you are providing feedback to help them decide, rather than thanking them for a decision already made. The recommendation is clear, but the reasoning behind it could be more professional.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. For example, the transition 'on the other hand' is used, but the connection between the two main body paragraphs is weak. There are also issues with punctuation and capitalization, such as starting sentences with lowercase letters (e.g., 'by this initiative', 'on the other hand', 'i have a humble'). These errors occasionally disrupt the flow of the text. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring consistent paragraph structure would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'sponsorship', 'initiative', and 'quotation'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'open arts and sports mega bash 2026' and 'we can everything outstanding'. Additionally, there are consistent spelling errors, such as 'childrens' (missing apostrophe) and 'equipements' (incorrect pluralization). To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure you are using standard English spelling and punctuation for plural nouns.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'we cannot provide proper gifts because of the shortage'), missing articles, and incorrect sentence boundaries. For instance, the final paragraph contains run-on sentences and comma splices, such as 'because issued total in one time there is a chance for misusing the amount.you only need to release the fund...'. Improving your control over basic sentence construction and punctuation, particularly the use of periods and capital letters, is essential for achieving a higher score.
