Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this email after completing the feedback from the general public, and would like to share some suggestions.
Firstly, the most significant benefit of sponsoring the sports team that it will encourage more children’s to take part in sports events, especially for those who belongs to underprivileged families. Therefore, this could be a great chance for those children who could not afford the cost to take part in sports competitions.
Furthermore, if your company is funded for the concerts, it will reduce burden from the local council and will prioritize the concerts more effectively. Also, it would be more honoured for our community to represent on a great level.
Moreover, the company should spend some amount on the preparation first like training purposes thereby ensuring that each of them in a team will perform better . We expect that this team will represent our country on international level in upcoming years.
Thank you for considering these suggestions.
Yours faithfully,
Riya

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly describe the benefits of the sports team and the concerts, and you provide a recommendation. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the section on the concerts is vague, mentioning that it would 'reduce burden from the local council' without explaining how or why. Additionally, your recommendation is slightly confusing; you suggest spending money on 'training purposes' for the team, which is a specific detail not fully linked to the choice between the two options provided. To reach a higher band, ensure your arguments are more fully extended and directly address the core choice presented in the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into paragraphs, each focusing on a specific part of the prompt. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', and 'Moreover' to transition between ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing, such as the transition into the third paragraph. The referencing is generally clear, but the connection between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall progression of your argument. The use of paragraphing is appropriate for a formal letter, and the tone is consistent throughout the piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'underprivileged', 'significant', and 'represent'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation that slightly affect the precision of your writing. For example, 'if your company is funded for the concerts' is incorrect; you likely meant 'if your company funds the concerts'. Additionally, 'it would be more honoured for our community' is not a standard expression. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing would help elevate your score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For example, 'the most significant benefit... that it will encourage' is missing a verb, and 'encourage more children’s' contains an unnecessary possessive. There are also subject-verb agreement issues, such as 'those who belongs to'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to keep the score in the 6.0 range. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage would be highly beneficial.
