Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points, but the development of ideas is very limited and repetitive. The benefits of the sports team are described simply as 'good for the area' and 'encourage with sports,' which lacks depth. Similarly, the benefits of the concerts are focused on commercial gain rather than community enjoyment. Because the response is under the 150-word minimum, it fails to fully develop the ideas required for a higher band. The position is clear, but the lack of elaboration and the failure to meet the length requirement significantly impact the score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is very basic and sometimes inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'with the help of this/it.' The progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical, and the transitions between sentences are often abrupt. While the overall arrangement is logical, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the limited range of cohesive devices prevent a higher score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'good for the area' and 'buy many things' are basic and lack the precision expected for this task. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'children will encourage with sports' (should be 'encouraged to participate in sports') and 'children will aware about sports' (should be 'aware of'). The range is sufficient to convey the basic message, but it is not flexible or precise enough for a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('The benefits... is good'), incorrect preposition usage, and missing articles. The sentence 'children will aware about sports' is grammatically incorrect as it lacks a verb. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors and the lack of complex sentence structures limit the score. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the grammatical control is weak.
