Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
This letter is to share my opinion on how your company should spend money in the city.
Undoubtedly, sponsoring a local children's sports team for 2 years is likely to be a good decision because this will help younger ones to improve their skills and bring excellence in their team. Furthermore, by having excess to specialized training services, more juveniles would participate in physical activities which will improve their physical growth and bring professional opportunities to them.
In addition, organizing two open air concerts would give citizens an opportunity to entertain themselves, although it will not improve any circumstances of the society. Owing to the fact that the capital will be spent on hiring professionals for concerts, sound system and many more.
In my perspective investing in children is a wiser decision. Given that they are the future , providing them with sports equipments, well maintained playgrounds and coaches will serve in the long run.
I hope you take this view into consideration while making your decision.
Yours faithfully,
Suman

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all three bullet points of the task. You clearly describe the benefits of the sports team and the concerts, and you provide a clear recommendation. The ideas are relevant and logically developed, particularly the argument for investing in children. However, the discussion of the concerts is slightly underdeveloped; the sentence 'Owing to the fact that the capital will be spent on hiring professionals for concerts, sound system and many more' is a sentence fragment and lacks a clear conclusion regarding the impact of the concerts. To reach a higher band, ensure that all points are fully extended with complete, grammatically sound sentences.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with clear paragraphing. You use cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'In addition', and 'Given that' to guide the reader through your argument. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the referencing could be more precise in the third paragraph. Overall, the structure is coherent, and the use of paragraphing is appropriate for a formal letter, which effectively supports the flow of your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'specialized training services', 'physical activities', and 'professional opportunities'. There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'excess' instead of 'access' and 'equipments' (which is an uncountable noun). While you attempt to use more sophisticated language, these occasional inaccuracies prevent a higher score. Focusing on correct collocations and ensuring that pluralization rules for uncountable nouns are followed will help improve your lexical precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are some grammatical issues, such as the sentence fragment in the third paragraph ('Owing to the fact that...') and the misuse of 'equipments'. Punctuation is generally handled well, but there is a missing space before the comma in 'future ,'. The majority of your sentences are understandable, but the frequency of these minor errors suggests that you should focus on proofreading for sentence completeness and subject-verb agreement to move into the 7.0 band.
