Student answer (Band 5.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to share my feedback upon your request on how your company should spend money either on sponsoring local children's sports team for 2 years, or organizing two open-air concerts.
There are several benefits of spending money on young people. This not only support their physical growth but also invites them to pursue their carer in sports. Sponsoring sports team for two years will bring a considerable change to the society with more people motivating their children to engage in sports activities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the required word count of 150 words, as it contains only 92 words and is incomplete. Because the letter cuts off mid-sentence, the task is only partially addressed. You have failed to complete the summary of the concert benefits or provide a clear recommendation on how the money should be spent. To improve, you must ensure all bullet points are fully developed with supporting details and that the letter reaches the minimum length requirement to allow for a full exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response shows a basic attempt at paragraphing, but the abrupt ending severely disrupts the flow and logical progression of the letter. While you use simple cohesive devices like 'In addition' and 'This not only', the lack of completion makes it impossible to assess the overall coherence of the argument. To improve, focus on completing your thoughts and using a wider variety of linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly across the entire letter structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally appropriate for the task, such as 'pursue their career' and 'engage in sports activities'. However, there are minor errors, such as 'carer' instead of 'career' and 'support' instead of 'supports' (subject-verb agreement). The range is currently limited due to the unfinished nature of the text. To achieve a higher band, try to incorporate more precise and varied vocabulary related to community development and corporate sponsorship.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. There are noticeable grammatical errors, such as 'This not only support' (should be 'supports') and 'sponsoring sports team' (missing an article, 'a' or 'the'). Punctuation is generally correct, but the incomplete sentences at the end of the text prevent a full evaluation of your grammatical control. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles to improve your accuracy.
