Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to provide guidance on how your company can best utilise the fund for either sponsoring sports or arranging concerts for the local people. First of all, it is the good move to start with, which caters the needs of both childrens as well as society.
Recently, government has introduced numerous entertainment centres for adults and elderly. This have enhanced and foster the overall well-being of this area. So there is no need to invest money for now in such concerts.
However, you can make a really big deal out of this money, if you are investing it for the childrens physical development. As you may not aware that right now in this area we do not have any recreational facilities for kids to play and enjoy with. So if you can pay for opening new parks and small clubs for kids to play sport that would be great.
I hope my feedback will assist you to use money in a best manner as possible to cater the needs of childrens of this society.
Sincerely,
Hamza

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: describing the benefits of the sports team, summarizing the concert benefits, and providing a clear recommendation. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, you mention that the sports team caters to the needs of children, but you could have elaborated more on the specific benefits, such as physical health or social skills. Similarly, your argument against the concerts is clear, but it relies on a general assumption about existing facilities. To improve, ensure that your supporting details are more specific and fully expanded to demonstrate a deeper engagement with the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical structure with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use basic cohesive devices like 'First of all', 'However', and 'So' to link your ideas. While the progression is generally clear, the transitions between sentences can feel a bit mechanical. To reach a higher band, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the relationship between sentences is more fluid. Paragraphing is used correctly, which helps the reader follow your argument, but the overall flow could be improved by using more sophisticated cohesive devices to connect your points more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'recreational facilities' and 'well-being'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'utilise the fund' (should be 'funds') and 'good move to start with'. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing. Expanding your range of vocabulary to include more topic-specific terms related to community development and sponsorship would also help demonstrate a higher level of lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'it is the good move' (article error), 'caters the needs' (preposition error: 'caters to'), and 'As you may not aware' (missing verb: 'may not be aware'). Additionally, there are subject-verb agreement issues, such as 'This have enhanced'. To improve, pay closer attention to basic grammatical rules and proofread your work to catch these slips. Increasing the variety of complex structures while maintaining accuracy will help you achieve a higher score.
