Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the prompt. You successfully described the benefits of sponsoring the sports team, noting how it builds careers and brings national pride. You also summarised the benefits of the concerts, mentioning that people want to experience them and lack ticket money, and clearly stated your preference for how the company should spend the money. However, the tone and salutation depart from the formal register required for a business letter, as seen in the greeting 'Dear Manager' instead of 'Dear Sir or Madam,' and the closing 'Yours employ,' instead of 'Yours faithfully'. Ideas are generally relevant, but some points like the employee funds suggestion are slightly disjointed. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, but greater attention to formal letter conventions is needed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The letter exhibits a coherent overall arrangement, but the paragraphing and cohesion are sometimes faulty and mechanical. Sentences are placed into a few paragraphs, but the second paragraph becomes a dense block of ideas that lacks smooth transitional links. For example, the sentence 'Like cricket, hockey, basketball, football.' is a fragmented list that disrupts logical flow. Additionally, referencing and linking between ideas can be unclear, such as shifting abruptly from sports benefits to concert benefits without adequate transitional markers. While the progression of ideas is visible, the mechanical use of cohesive devices and erratic punctuation keep this criterion at the band 5 level.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, but contains noticeable errors that occasionally impede understanding. You attempted less common words and phrases, such as 'sponseeship' instead of sponsorship, 'tallent' instead of talent, and 'provoke' instead of emerge or sprout. There are also incorrect collocations and word choices, such as 'discuss you about' instead of 'discuss with you' or 'write to you about'. While words like 'initiative' and 'experience' show some range, frequent spelling mistakes and inaccurate word choices create some difficulty for the reader, fitting the band 5 descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

There is a very limited range of grammatical structures attempted, and frequent errors occur throughout the text. Most sentences are simple or contain faulty attempts at complex forms. Examples of grammatical inaccuracies include 'I’m writting this letter', 'Individual will know', 'if the learn, they will play', and 'which should implemented accurately' (missing the auxiliary 'be'). Punctuation is also problematic, leading to sentence fragments like 'Like cricket, hockey, basketball, football.' These frequent errors in grammar and mechanics cause noticeable difficulty for the reader, placing the response firmly at band 4.0.
