Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Sir,
When i first heard about this i felt super happy that your company is intrested in this type of work. To begin with i feel like sponsering a local children's sports team bring more benefits to it. Firstly, a lot of children involve in sports activity nowadays. By providing sponsership to the team will bring more children's intrests in sports. Although compnay gets more benfits, For example there reputation in public will increase, second this is a good way to do marketing for the company and third most important this will provide support to local children's sports team.
On the other hand paying for the concerts is not a bad idea but giving money for the concert would not help anybody financially or mentally. However, it does provide enjoyment but as we compair the both choices paying for concert is not what public would love.
To conclude, I strongly believe that company should spend money to sponser local children's sports team as this may bring happiness in children and provide encourgement.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You successfully describe the benefits of sponsoring the sports team, such as increasing children's interest in sports, boosting public reputation, and providing corporate marketing opportunities. You also summarise the benefits and drawbacks of paying for the concerts, noting that while they offer enjoyment, they do not help people financially or mentally. Finally, you state your clear preference that the company should support the sports team. However, the ideas are relatively basic and lack full extension. For instance, the marketing benefits and public reputation points are mentioned quickly without being fully developed. Therefore, the response aligns well with a Band 6.0 for Task Achievement as all parts are addressed with relevant, albeit somewhat underdeveloped, ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
Your letter has a discernible overall structure, beginning with an appropriate opening and concluding with a clear summary of your preference. You attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Firstly', 'Although', and 'On the other hand'. However, the logical progression is at times disrupted by poor paragraphing, as the first main body paragraph crams too many distinct points together ('Firstly', 'second this is a good way', 'and third most important'). Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, and some sentences lack smooth transitions. Because the overall arrangement is coherent despite mechanical cohesion and faulty referencing, this performance fits the Band 6 descriptor.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, but it remains fairly basic and repetitive. You successfully employ general terms like 'sponsor', 'reputation', 'marketing', and 'enjoyment'. However, there are numerous spelling and word-form errors throughout the text, such as 'intrested' instead of interested, 'sponsering' instead of sponsoring, 'compnay' instead of company, 'benfits' instead of benefits, 'compair' instead of compare, and 'encourgement' instead of encouragement. While these errors do not severely impede communication, they demonstrate limited precision and control over less common lexical items, placing your lexical resource firmly at a Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
You demonstrate an ability to mix simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures like 'When i first heard about this i felt...' and 'Although compnay gets more benfits...'. However, grammatical accuracy is weak due to frequent errors, including missing capitalization ('i'), missing articles ('reputation in public', 'paying for concert'), and punctuation mistakes such as run-on sentences and comma splices ('Although compnay gets more benfits, For example there reputation...'). There are also agreement errors, such as 'children involve' instead of 'children are involved'. Because these errors occur frequently and occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader, this warrants a Band 5.0.
