Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Mr. company' sponsor,
I hope this email finds you well, i listen news about your company is spending money for local children's sports which is very benefical for them.
Moreover, there are lots of benefits of making sports team in our area. Firstly, if company making a sports team in our area, children would more encourage about the sports activities. Due to this they can reduce the technology gadgets and more participate in spots which is good for their health.
When company would spend money for sports team then children can start their games easily. Funding two open-air concerts delivers immdediate cultural enrichment and a shared experience for residents of all ages.
After considerding both possibillities, I strongly recommend directing the funds towards sponsoring the children's sports team. A two-year sponsorship ensure lasting, impactful support for local families rather then a short-lived event, establishing a enduring legacy of community investment for your organization.
Thank you for seeking public input on this initivative.
Your faithfully,
Rajdeep Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The candidate addresses all parts of the task prompt reasonably well. The salutation is slightly non-standard ('Dear Mr. company' sponsor'), but the response covers the benefits of sponsoring the sports team, summarises the benefits of the concerts, and clearly states a preference for the sports team. The ideas are relevant and generally developed, such as discussing how sports help reduce gadget usage and promote health, alongside the cultural enrichment of concerts. However, some arguments lack full expansion and suffer from phrasing issues, which places this response comfortably at a Band 6.0 level according to the task achievement descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter exhibits a coherent overall arrangement with a clear progression of ideas from addressing the sponsorship, to discussing sports benefits, then concerts, and finally stating the final recommendation. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different points, and cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Firstly', and 'After considering both possibilities' are utilised. However, referencing and transitions are at times mechanical or somewhat faulty (e.g., 'When company would spend money...'), which aligns the performance with Band 6.0. The sign-off and opening, despite slight unnaturalness ('Your faithfully'), still indicate a letter format.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The candidate demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting some less common collocations and phrases such as 'cultural enrichment', 'lasting, impactful support', and 'enduring legacy'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices throughout, such as 'i listen news' instead of 'I heard the news' or 'I understand', 'benefical' (spelling error), and 'technology gadgets' instead of 'electronic devices'. These errors do not impede overall communication, but they restrict the lexical score to Band 6.0, as the control over less common lexical items is inconsistent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at conditional structures and relative clauses (e.g., 'if company making a sports team... children would more encourage'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms, auxiliary omissions, and word order ('children would more encourage', 'When company would spend money', 'A two-year sponsorship ensure', 'rather then'). Punctuation and capitalization errors also occur (e.g., lowercase 'i'). While communication is rarely impeded, the density of grammatical inaccuracies prevents the text from achieving a higher band, making Band 5.5 the most appropriate descriptor fit.
