Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I Rutik Patel writing this letter to give my feedback on how you should spend money on local sports team or concerts in my area.
Firstly, in my area there are many children who have better scope in cricket. Each one is plays well in match. I personally saw their match last week. Each one have potential in cricket. Sponsering this team will build their confidence. This way they get better equipments and training with this sponsership. They get better opportunity to play in variuous matches at district level and have better chances to show their talent. They can get better carrier choices.
Secondly, organizing open air concert with famous singers would give better attraction in my area. People of my area can get chance to enjoy live concert. This helps them to reduce their stress and work load and enjoy concert.
Therefor, on my opinion you should spend money on local children's sports team. Which helps them to get better carrier opportunity and build their sportsman ship. Also develops self confidence and team work spirit.
I hope my feedback will give you idea on which area you should spend money on. With this you should spend money on something better which provide better ways for children's in my area.
Thanking you,
Yours sincerely,
Rutik Patel

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all three bullet points required in the task. The writer describes the benefits of sponsoring the local children's sports team, such as building confidence, gaining better equipment, and getting opportunities at the district level. They also summarise the benefits of the open-air concerts by noting how they provide attraction and help reduce stress and workload. Finally, a clear choice is made regarding how the company should spend the money. However, some ideas are repetitive and under-developed, relying on simple generalisations without fully extending the points. For instance, the discussion on concerts is quite brief and lacks depth. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, fitting the profile of a Band 6.0 performance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a clear overall arrangement with an appropriate opening and closing. Paragraphing is utilised to separate distinct points, moving from the sports team to the concerts and finally to the recommendation. However, cohesion within paragraphs is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, transition phrases like 'Firstly' and 'Secondly' are used, but the linkage between sentences within the body paragraphs can feel disjointed due to repetitive phrasing and abrupt shifts. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the concluding paragraphs. Overall organisation is coherent enough to guide the reader easily through the letter, meeting the criteria for a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'sponsoring', 'potential', and 'atmosphere' equivalents. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'sponsering', 'variuous', 'carrier' (used instead of career), 'Therefor', and 'sportsman ship'. These errors do not seriously impede communication as the intended meaning remains clear to the reader. The lexical resource demonstrates a mixed control of vocabulary, blending functional everyday terms with occasional inaccurate derivations or misspellings, which aligns firmly with a Band 6.0 score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional or relative-style clauses (e.g., 'children who have better scope in cricket'). There are, however, several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings present, such as 'I Rutik Patel writing this letter' (missing auxiliary verb) and 'Each one is plays well' (incorrect verb form). Punctuation is also inconsistent in places, particularly with sentence boundaries and fragment use. While these errors cause occasional distraction and require the reader to re-read, they do not severely impede the overall communication of ideas. This balanced mix of basic and attempted complex structures with recurring errors warrants a Band 6.0.
