Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to convey my suggestion regarding your plan to invest on sports team or concert. I am Aahana Sharma, a resident of the area where your company is planning the whole activity. Firstly, i have to congratulate you for the huge inicietive. The kids have never experienced that yet apart from their school activities. It will be a great opportunity for them to show thier talent in sports. Several talented students left behind because of the lack of facilities.

However, the open-air concert is also essential in overall growth of society because no one had ever experienced this huge new idea of concert yet.

Furthermore, I would like to advice that your company should spend on local chlindern's sports team however it will ultimanety help in the overall growth of the children to choose their carrier in sports as well, they can work on their weaknesses as well as strength through this programe. Hence, through this you will be contributing to nation.

I hope my suggestions could be of any help and i am looking forwa

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response successfully covers all parts of the prompt. You described the benefits of sponsoring the sports team, noting how it helps children show their talent and build overall skills. You also summarised the benefits of the concerts, mentioning that it would contribute to the overall growth of the society as a new experience. Finally, you clearly stated your recommendation that the company should spend the money on the local children's sports team. The ideas are relevant and appropriate for a general task 1 letter, although some points like the concert benefits are somewhat brief. Overall, your position is clear throughout the letter, fulfilling the task requirements effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter opens with the required formal salutation and is structured into multiple paragraphs, moving logically from the introduction to the benefits and finally your recommendation. However, paragraphing and referencing are occasionally basic or abrupt. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'However', 'Furthermore', and 'Hence', though a few feel slightly mechanical or are impacted by punctuation errors. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the flow is occasionally disrupted by unfinished sentences at the end of the text ('and i am looking forwa'). With more careful paragraph breaks and smoother transitions, the score could be higher.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting words and phrases like 'convey my suggestion', 'inicietive', and 'overall growth'. However, there are several spelling errors ('inicietive' instead of initiative, 'thier' instead of their, 'chlindern's' instead of children's, 'ultimanety' instead of ultimately, 'carrier' instead of career, 'programe' instead of programme) and awkward word choices ('huge new idea of concert'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they restrict the lexical score to Band 5.5 because they are noticeable and affect precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'I am writing to convey my suggestion regarding your plan...' and 'Several talented students left behind because of the lack of facilities' (which lacks a main auxiliary verb). There are several grammatical errors and punctuation issues, including lowercase capitalization for 'i', missing articles, and typos. Additionally, the letter trails off incomplete at the very end ('and i am looking forwa'). The control over grammar is somewhat limited, and frequent errors occasionally require the reader to slow down.
