Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hope you are doing well. I am very proud of your comany for sponoring events in our area and I am writing this to express my opinions and feedbacks on this upcoming event.
On the one hand, sponoring the sports team can be beneficial to the young players. In recent times, our local players are not able to maintain sports equipment as well as proper diet plans, along with that low funds make them to organise team without coach. Nevertheless, with the aid of sponsorship, they can manage their team in a fruitfull ways
On the other hand, playing concerts is also a good idea to gather the local crowed, it can be a fun activity for all age group people and a sense of community can promoted.
I think it is best to promote sports culture in our society, beacuse it has long-term benefits such as fitness culture in teenagers and the overall image of local area can be promoted on the global level. However, open-air concerts are the limited time events and has no links with future progression.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours faithfully,
Sim.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response covers all parts of the prompt well. You successfully described the benefits of sponsoring the sports team, noting how it helps players maintain equipment, follow proper diet plans, and access coaching. You also summarised the benefits of the open-air concerts, mentioning that they gather the local crowd and build a sense of community. Finally, you clearly stated your personal recommendation that the company should fund the sports team due to its long-term societal benefits. Your position is maintained consistently throughout the letter, and the ideas are supported with relevant explanations. Although some points could be slightly more expanded to reach a higher band, all requirements of the task are appropriately fulfilled.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical structure with a clear opening, body paragraphs addressing different aspects of the prompt, and an appropriate sign-off. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'Nevertheless' are used to connect ideas and guide the reader through the argument. However, paragraphing could be slightly refined, and referencing is occasionally mechanical, as seen in the transition between sentences. While the overall arrangement is coherent, greater flexibility and smoother transitions are needed to achieve a higher band score.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at less common items such as 'sponsorship,' 'progression,' and 'community.' However, there are notable spelling errors ('comany,' 'sponoring,' 'fruitfull,' 'crowed') and occasional awkward collocations ('low funds make them to organise team'). While your intended meaning is still clear despite these lexical and spelling inaccuracies, the frequent errors prevent you from achieving a higher band score for this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures like 'In recent times, our local players are not...' and 'I think it is best to...'. However, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text, including tense issues ('are not able to maintain' vs past struggles), preposition errors ('on the global level'), and structural slips like 'low funds make them to organise'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but comma splices occur, such as in the sentence about the concerts. These errors occasionally disrupt the flow of reading, placing the grammar score firmly in the mid-range.
