Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The candidate has addressed all parts of the task prompt, including describing the benefits of the sports team, summarising the benefits of the concerts, and stating an opinion on how the money should be spent, although the final recommendation is extremely brief and lacks development. For instance, the writer notes that sponsoring the sports team helps young people 'build strong social relationships', and correctly identifies stress relief as a benefit of the concerts. However, the response falls short of the 150-word minimum requirement, containing only 141 words. This under-length impacts the overall fulfillment of the task, as ideas cannot be fully extended. Consequently, the score is constrained to a Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter follows a clear overall structure, with an appropriate formal opening and distinct paragraphs for each main point. The writer uses basic cohesive devices and transition phrases such as 'To begin with' and 'On the other hand' to organise the ideas. However, paragraphing and logical progression are slightly disrupted by the abrupt and underdeveloped final paragraph, which reads 'In my opinion, your comapany could spend money for convienence for people' without sufficient elaboration or linking to the preceding arguments. Referencing is generally clear, but the overall mechanical nature of the cohesive devices and the abrupt ending keep this criterion at a Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, attempting some less common collocations and topic-related terms such as 'significant advantages', 'imperative benefits', and 'hectic working hours'. However, there are notable lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as 'writing to response' instead of 'writing in response', and spelling errors like 'Intially' and 'comapany'. Furthermore, the final sentence contains a misspelling of 'convenience'. While communication is not severely impeded, these inaccuracies and the somewhat limited flexibility place the lexical performance firmly at a Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over basic structures. Examples of complex sentences include 'These concerts can assist them to reduce the stress and give relaxation from their daily hectic working hours.' However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'investing a huge amount of money... to sponsor either sports team' (missing article 'a'), 'has a significant advantages' (subject-verb agreement error), and comma splices like 'relationships, they can interact'. Additionally, the infinitive and gerund structures are sometimes awkward, as seen in 'spend a large amount of money... has also several imperative benefits'. These errors occasionally cause strain, leading to a Band 5.0.
