Dear Sir or Madam,

Im writing to provide my feedback regarding the company's proposal to either sponsor a local children's sports team for to years funds to open-air concerts.

Sponsoring the children's sports team offers long-term communnity benefits.

It encourage healthy physical acitivity, teaches team work among youngsters, and provides stable support for youth development over a sustained two year periods. On the other hand, funding the open-air concerts would deleiver short-term entertainment and cultural enrichment for the general public, boosting local morale bring people together for a memoralble weekend.

While both initiatives are valuable, I believe the company should allocate the funds to word sponsring the children's sports team. Investing in youth athletics why tialds lasting health and social dividends for the community compared to a transient even.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by describing the benefits of the sports team, summarising the benefits of the concerts, and clearly stating a preferred choice. The tone is appropriate for a semi-formal letter. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed; for instance, the benefits of the sports team and the concerts could have been expanded with more specific examples. Furthermore, the length requirement has not been met, as the response contains only 133 words, falling short of the 150-word minimum specified in the task instructions. This prevents the response from achieving a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement and a clear purpose throughout. Paragraphing is used to separate different parts of the letter, such as the introduction, the body points addressing both options, and the final recommendation. However, cohesion is occasionally mechanical or faulty. For instance, the transition between the introductory points is abrupt, and referencing is not always completely clear. While cohesive devices like 'On the other hand' and 'While both initiatives' are employed, they are sometimes used rigidly, resulting in a somewhat disjointed flow between sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'cultural enrichment', 'transient event', and 'social dividends'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that prevent a higher score, such as 'communnity', 'deleiver', 'memoralble', and the confusing phrase 'to word sponsring'. Additionally, there are awkward word formations like 'why tialds' which appear to be typos or misuse of vocabulary. Nevertheless, these lexical inaccuracies do not seriously impede communication, and the intended meaning remains understandable to the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional and subordinate clauses. There are, however, some errors in grammar, punctuation, and prepositions throughout the text. Examples include missing articles and prepositions in phrases like 'for to years funds to open-air concerts' and 'over a sustained two year periods', as well as subject-verb agreement issues such as 'It encourage'. Punctuation is generally basic, and while these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to grasp the core message.
