Student answer (Band 5.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
The purpose of writing this letter is to talk about the feedbacks you asked from the public of town on your proposals of sponsoring a local children's sports team for two years or pay for the two open-air concerts.
I would like to provide my feedback as a member of the public that you should spend your money smartly which can benefit the town in a long term, You should firstly sponsor the concert and generate revenue by selling tickets and provide jobs to the people of the local town. the concert can attract people to the town which can lead to incentivise the income of the people as well.
Furthermore, the revenue generated from the concert can also be used to sponsor the sports team of kids of the town. which will be beneficial for their own future and for the nation.
In my Opinion, by spending the same amount of money you can generate the whole revenue model in which on one side you can generate business model for the people and on the other side you can sponsor the future of the nation.
Yours faithfully,
Vishal Sharmma

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The letter gives a clear recommendation to fund the concerts first and use the revenue to support the children’s team, so the reader can identify your overall view. However, the task asks you to describe the benefits of sponsoring the team and summarise the benefits of the concerts. The team’s benefits are only briefly mentioned as helping children’s future and the nation, while the concert benefits are more developed through ticket revenue, local jobs and attracting visitors. The response therefore addresses the task only partially, with limited support for key points. To strengthen it, explain specific benefits of team sponsorship, such as children’s health, confidence or community participation, and make the recommendation more direct. The stated length requirement is met; nine words copied from the task prompt were not counted.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
Your ideas are grouped into paragraphs, and linking expressions such as “Furthermore” and “In my Opinion” help signal addition and your conclusion. The overall sequence—from introducing the request, to discussing concerts, to recommending a combined approach—is understandable. However, there is no clear progression through all three requested points: the sports-team benefits are not given their own developed discussion, and the final paragraph repeats the idea of generating revenue and supporting the team rather than clearly concluding the comparison. Some connections are also awkward, such as the move from concert revenue to sponsoring the team. Organise the letter around the two options and then give a concise final recommendation, using clear references to connect each point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “sponsor,” “revenue,” “open-air concerts,” and “local town,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “provide my feedback” and “beneficial for their own future.” However, several choices are unnatural or imprecise, and repetition limits the range: “generate revenue,” “revenue generated,” and “generate business model” recur, while “incentivise the income” does not express the intended meaning naturally. “Feedbacks” is also not the usual uncountable form in this context. Aim for precise collocations and vary the vocabulary—for example, describe concerts as “boosting local businesses” or “attracting visitors,” and refer to “feedback” without an -s.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts some longer sentence forms, including a relative clause in “which can benefit the town in a long term” and a contrast in “on one side … on the other side.” These attempts show some range, but control is inconsistent, and several sentences are joined or punctuated in ways that make the relationships between ideas harder to follow. For example, “You should firstly sponsor the concert … the concert can attract people” runs together, and “which will be beneficial…” begins a sentence fragment after a full stop. Capitalisation is also inconsistent in “In my Opinion.” Use full stops to separate complete ideas, check that each sentence has a main clause, and practise accurate complex sentences with clear clause boundaries.
