Student answer (Band 5.0)

Dear Sir,

I am writing a letter to inform you that all people are very happy that your comapny is spending on local childrens sports team or to pay for two open-air concerts.

Abundant of children will take part in sports team. Because in our city there is no sports team. Most of students will take part in sports team and they will win lots of medals for city and all credits will go to your company. Hence, it will increase reputation of your comany.

Concerts also play a vital role in city. People will come from different region to watch concerts. Due to which, there will be name and fame of your company in city and new generation will motivate by famous celeberities. So, if any one have talent they can show up in future.

As my point of view, money should be spend by company. They will not give money to mayor or any municipal of city. Because we cannot trust them that they will spend all money or not. Moreover, company know where to spend money more as compared to other people.

your sincerely,

Jasdeep

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address all three requested points: you describe possible benefits of a children’s team, mention the concerts’ appeal, and give a recommendation about how the money should be handled. However, the final position does not clearly choose between the two options; saying the company should spend the money itself rather than give it to the mayor does not specify which option it should fund. Some benefits are also asserted rather than explained—for example, the link between a sports team and winning medals is not supported. Make a direct choice and develop each option with specific, relevant reasons. The opening also says people are happy about either choice, which does not clearly establish your own view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has separate paragraphs for the opening, sports, concerts, and your concluding view, so the reader can identify the main topics. Basic linking expressions such as “Hence,” “Moreover,” and “So” also show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression is not always clear: the final paragraph shifts from choosing between sponsorship and concerts to whether the company should give money to the mayor, a point not established earlier. Some links are awkward or unclear, such as “Due to which,” and several short statements repeat the same idea about the company’s reputation. Use a clearer sequence—one paragraph for each option, followed by a direct recommendation—and make each linking phrase express the relationship between ideas accurately.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “sponsor,” “open-air concerts,” “reputation,” and “talent,” which helps communicate the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices, collocations, and spelling errors make the letter less natural: “Abundant of children,” “name and fame,” “comapny,” and “celeberities.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “all credits will go to your company,” where “recognition” would better express the intended meaning. Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than adding ambitious phrases. Proofread spelling and choose vocabulary that clearly describes the benefits, such as community participation, public recognition, and opportunities for young performers.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and more complex structures, including “Because in our city there is no sports team” and “if any one have talent they can show up in future.” However, complex attempts are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur frequently. For example, “money should be spend” should be “money should be spent,” while “new generation will motivate” needs a passive form such as “the younger generation will be motivated.” The opening also contains an awkward construction, “I am writing a letter to inform you that…”. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and passive forms. These errors sometimes make the intended relationships difficult to follow.
